HNKI Membership

TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP
HNKI shall have three categories of membership. These are:
  1. Club Membership – Club membership will consist of any club that has the required number of individual members led by a duly recognized HNKI Instructor as defined by the Board of Governors. Upon meeting the aforementioned requirements and upon payment of the prescribed fee as may be determined from time to time by the Board of Directors, a recognized club shall be entitled to one vote at all Meetings of the General Membership. A duly recognized club will also have the right to host any sanctioned activity of the HNKI, including, but not limited to, HNKI seminars, examinations, instructor training, etc.

  2. Regular Membership – Regular members are defined as any individual who holds the rank of San-dan or higher and has achieved the classification of ‘Dojo Instructor’ as defined by the Technical Qualification Standards of the HNKI. Upon meeting the aforementioned requirements and upon payment of the prescribed fee as may be determined from time to time by the Board of Governors, a Regular Member will be entitled to participate in all sanctioned activities of the HNKI and will be entitled to vote at all Meetings of the General Membership. Regular members will receive one additional vote for each level of higher qualification received up to a maximum of 5 votes (i.e. Dojo Instructor = 1 vote; Regional Instructor = 2 votes; National Instructor = 3 votes; International Instructor = 4 votes; Master Instructor = 5 votes). Regular members will also be entitled to run for election to the Board of Directors.

  3. Associate Membership – Associate members are defined as any individual who has not achieved the qualifications necessary for Regular membership. Associate members are eligible to participate in all sanctioned activities of the HNKI and attend Meetings of the General Membership. However, Associate members will not be entitled to vote or run for election to the Board of Directors.
HOW TO QUALIFY AS A CLUB
Club Membership to the HNKI requires that the following criteria be met:
  1. The HNKI Club Applicant (hereby referred to as "APPLICANT") must be a qualified instructor. Instructor qualification requirements can be found here.
  2. Should the APPLICANT have less than the minimum required 3rd Dan, (s)he may apply as an "Affiliate Club” which functions under the direction of a registered instructor.
  3. Recognition as a "CLUB” requires that the APPLICANT have a minimum of 20 registered members + the APPLICANT, for a total of 21 minimum people.
HOW TO APPLY FOR CLUB MEMBERSHIP
Once above qualifications are met, the APPLICANT is requeststed to do the following:
  1. Submit the online HNKI Club Application Form (click here).
  2. If the APPLICANT already possesses an Invidual HNKI Membership, his/her Membership Number will be submitted with the Club Application Form.
  3. Once the application form is received, and the applicant is accepted, the APPLICANT will receive notification of login credentials to submit payment via PayPal the HNKI website. This will include an ID number to be used along with your email address and password you created to register.
HOW TO APPLY FOR INDIVIDUAL HNKI MEMBERSHIP
